Nikos Salingaros

Within the pattern community, Nikos Salingaros is best known for being the editor of Alexander's The Nature of Order. But, his many books and articles make him an original author in the field of architecture theory. In his architecture critique he is very close to Christopher Alexander. Nikos Salingaros is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Wikipedia: "Nikos Angelos Salingaros (Greek: Νίκος Άγγελος Σαλίγκαρος; born 1952 in Perth, Australia) is a mathematician and polymath known for his work on urban theory, architectural theory, complexity theory, and design philosophy. He has been a close collaborator of the architect and computer software pioneer Christopher Alexander, with whom Salingaros shares a harsh critical analysis of conventional modern architecture. Like Alexander, Salingaros has proposed an alternative theoretical approach to architecture and urbanism that is more adaptive to human needs and aspirations, and that combines rigorous scientific analysis with deep intuitive experience." [1]

UTNE READER has named Nikos Salingaros among the "50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World" [2]

Nikos Salingaros is also in close collaboration with Michael Mehaffy. Together they have authored numerous publications related to Christopher Alexander.
